Location of Study Corridor
History
1934 - The Creation of Hyde Park
The road was built to access Hyde Park, named after Benjamin Talbot Hyde who donated 350 acres to the state.

The road was extended to the Santa Fe Ski Basin after its first chairlift was built with funding from the Sierras de Santa Fe group.
1960 to today - Highway corridor
NM 475 was established as a state highway in the mid-1960s and later extended to US 84-285 along historic Paseo de Peralta, Bishops Lodge Road, and Artist Road.
Study Overview
Study Process
The Study is being conducted in accordance with the NMDOT’s Location Study Procedures (2015) to comply with state and federal transportation planning and environmental regulations.
Existing Conditions: Urban
Existing Conditions: Rural
Beyond the city, around MP 5.0, conditions become more rural and mountainous. At this point, the corridor becomes Hyde Park Road. There are numerous turnouts for mountain trails, several residential subdivisions, and U.S. Forest Service roads.

Feedback
You can see there are a lot of bicycle use needs in the corridor, but also many constraints for making improvements. It’s likely that our ability to make improvements will be limited by funding, right-of-way, land use, physical constraints, etc. Your input is important to present a complete picture of study-related concerns and provide an on-the-ground perspective that enhances the information provided by design data.
Thank you for your interest and participation!
