June 24, 2020 Tornado Outbreak
Overview
The June 24, 2020 tornado outbreak was caused by an upper level disturbance that moved through our area in two rounds. The first round of storms occurred early in the morning hours of June 24th. These early storms primarily impacted the Baton Rouge area and the southern Mississippi counties. The second round of storms occurred around noon and mainly impacted West Baton Rouge and the coastal Mississippi areas. Overall, 8 tornadoes occurred in the NWS New Orleans/Baton Rouge, LA area.

Early Morning Tornadoes - Round 1
Here is a list of the tornadoes that occurred during the morning hours of June 24th, 2020 and the rating for these storms:
- The Baton Rouge Tornado - occurred at 4:50AM CDT and was rated an EF-1
- The Greenwell Springs Tornado - occurred at 5:30AM CDT and was rated an EF-1
- The Walthall County Tornado - occurred at 7:40AM CDT and was rated an EF-1
