Welcome to Rumanyika-Karagwe National Park
Originally a Game Reserve of 800 sq. km Rumanyika-Karagwe was gazetted as a National Park in July 2019, it’s area had shrunk to 247 sq. km due to human encroachment, but it is still a beautiful area with great potential for photographic tourism. The temperature ranges between 130C to 410 C depending on the area elevation. The dry season is from July to October and the remainder of the year there can be rain with some of it very heavy with up to 1,300 mm in the west parts of the Park. The essential core of the area is quite a deep valley with a slow winding river at its base which breaks up into lakes and swamps. The lower slopes of the valley are heavily vegetated by forest and thick bush. The higher slopes of the valley have Acacia tall grass woodlands which are spacious and attractive and are clearly kept relatively open by seasonal fires.
