Our Approach

In an increasingly fast paced life, most of us have little time to do activities that quiet our senses and enable us to be in harmony with our surrounding elements.

We are here to recharge through activities with nature and in good company. We will set the frame, but you will choose the pace. An activity programme will be proposed to you every day and you will be free to follow it or to adjust it according to your needs and physical condition. We have made sure to provide more than one activity option on the selected spots of our route. Thus, if it is too windy to dive, we will always have the opportunity to go for a hike or just enjoy a sunny day on the beach.

We are striving to create a warm atmosphere, where you will be able to meet like-minded people and share beautiful moments together. We will cook together and organize our life on board on a communal and self-service basis, making every moment together an opportunity for connection and joy.

Activities

Who is this adventure for? Basically, for anyone who enjoys the sea, has a flair for adventures or who would just like a break from a busy life.

During our freediving activities, we will have experienced freediving instructors on-board, who will adjust the level to every individual. If you haven't done freediving before, don't let yourself be intimidated. With the right guidance, diving on one breath provides very soothing and liberating sensations. Once our mammalian reflexes are awakened, diving feels much more like an underwater meditation than a tense extreme sport. After diving, a smooth sensation of peacefulness and blissfulness will usually accompany you throughout the day.

For the more experienced Freedivers, we will provide a training setup for up to a depth of 50m when this is allowed by the weather conditions. Bear in mind that because of the unpredictable weather pattern on the Cycladic route, we might have to perform shallower dives in protected bays.

Regarding hiking, the routes will be chosen based on the specific wishes of the group, but may also be undertaken individually. The networks of paths is extensive and is spanning over 200km with varying difficulty. These paths lead adventurers through a diverse landscape of picturesque settlements, unspoiled beaches, archaeological treasures, and Byzantine monuments. Along the way, hikers are treated to sights of solitary chapels, ancient windmills, stone threshing floors, and beautifully terraced landscapes, all harmoniously integrated with the island's natural beauty.

Breathwork and stretching exercises will run daily in the morning on the nearest beach.

We’ll be preparing meals together, sail together, spend a week on a sailboat together. If you like to sing, we’ll sing along, we’ll be a little family, so we invite all open-minded people, to create a magical week with us.

The Itinerary

The Cyclades route

Finding the right balance between sailing, freediving and hiking has been at the forefront of this itinerary and our destinations provide just that: Beautiful and authentic sceneries of the Cyclades paired with crystal clear waters at a reasonable sailing distance from the mainland. Kea and Kythnos are the first islands of the Cyclades island group and, unlike their more famous and distant neighbours, they are not directly connected to the main lines of the Piraeus port, making them a less crowded destination. This has contributed in the preservation of their authenticity and peaceful character, even during the busy summer periods.

Weather & Alternative Routes

In the Aegean, the weather can be difficult to predict far in advance. While in June the Meltemi winds are not as strong as later in the season, they can still be a factor of disruption for our underwater activities. It is with this particularity in mind that we ought to acknowledge that we may not be able to perform deep dives and/or having more hiking days than initially planned.

In case of severe weather, we have planned for an alternative route to the Saronic islands of Aigina, Aggistri, Methana & Poros which are more weather protected.

Important disclaimer: Please note that the itinerary presented below may be adjusted or changed depending on weather conditions

We’ll depart from the port of Lavrio, near Athens and then sail around for a week, where the winds will be most favourable.

Saturday: The Αdventure begins

We will be departing from Lavrio Marina around 5 p.m. The Marina is a 20mn drive from Athens International Airport and around an hour drive from Athens city center. We are heading either to Vourkari port or Otzia bay of Kea island, where we will be anchoring for the night and have our first Greek dinner in a local taverna.

Sunday - First dives

After our morning breathwork and stretching, we will be heading to Spathi bay on the North Eastern side of the Island. If the northern winds are kind, there will be numerous diving spots to choose from for our first diving day: around an uninhabited seagull islet, on a secluded bay which lays under the humble gaze of the Kastriani monastery or in proximity to underwater caves where Monachus Monachus seals have been spotted.

Monday: Ancient temples of Athena & Apollo

The Karthea archeological site, which overlooks two beautiful sandy beaches, is home to two ancient temples and a recently restored ancient theatre. The site, which is only accessible by foot, makes it a rather unique place on the island to explore the networks of picturesque paths that have been in use for thousands of years. For those who want a more demanding hike, it will be possible to start directly from Spathi beach and cross a big section of the island by foot. This itinerary will take you inland to see the main village (Ioulida) and hike off-beaten paths where you will probably see more goats and donkeys than human beings.

Tuesday: Loutra, Kithnos

After our morning session of breathwork on the beach, we will be sailing away to the small fishing village of Loutra on Kythnos island. Loutra is famous for its thermal springs, its waters gushing out into a natural sea pool and then flowing into the sea.

We will make a stop at Agios Sostis for a quick dive session and then head to the little port, where we will spend the day at the beach, go to the nearby Spa, or hike to see the ruins of the old castle of Oria. Alternatively, we can visit the main village of Kythnos, which is an hour's hike away.

Wednesday: The magical Kolona beach

After our morning daily routine of stretching and breathing, we will be heading to Kolona, one of the most beautiful beaches of Kythnos. We'll get there either by foot or sailing, depending on your mood of the day. Kolona offers a protected bay where we will be able to do some interesting dives. Moreover, a coastal path leading to two beautiful beaches and to the ruins of an old castle can be explored.

Thursday: Fun dive in underwater cave & Paddle Steamer Wreck

As we head back towards Kea, we will aim to visit a a hidden underwater passage, accessible to freedivers of all skill levels. Immerse yourself in this submerged corridor, where beams of light play through the crystal-clear waters, crafting a mesmerizing atmosphere. This path guides you to a secret natural pool, cradled by an open-air cavern, offering a sanctuary of tranquility and beauty. Just a stone's throw away, there lies a unique wreck, one of the few remaining paddle steamers in European waters, lying hidden since 1868 on a reef just outside Koundouros bay.  "Patris"wreck is torn into two pieces, at depths ranging from 30 to 55 meters, yet despite its age the iron skeleton and one of the paddle wheels are still in good shape. This dive is recommended for advanced freedivers and can only be performed with good weather conditions as currents can be strong in the area.

Friday: Airplane Wreck in Makronissos

As our journey nears its end, we will make the crossing back to the mainland, but not before making a stop North of Makronissos island to make a rather interesting fun dive. A Piper PA-28-181 Warrior II is sitting at a depth of 18m, in an area protected from currents and waves. The site combines all the essential elements for a memorable dive, providing a perfect conclusion to this beautiful journey.

Plane wreck on Makronisos island

There's no good plan without an alternative plan. In the event of high winds in the Aegean, we will travel to the Saronic islands, a journey that has no less wonders to explore.

Pristine waters, wreck diving on a cargo ship, a volcano & a millennium olive grove hike and hidden volcanic hot springs are awaiting.

A little more about our Sailing boats

Our home will be "Perseus" & "Thalia", two modern and fully equipped sailing boats, each with four cabins and three WC/showers.

You will sleep in a shared cabin of two, with bedding and towels provided. All cabins will be separated by gender and bookings will be arranged accordingly.

The Team

Dimitri Papadimitriou

The local guide, CMAS Freediver instructor & hiker

I grew up in Greece and spent most of my holidays on Kea Island since my early childhood, which was a great determinant for developing a strong bond with the water element. The sea has always been my refuge, the place I would turn to recharge and to regenerate. The calmness and the quietness that I find below has never ceased to fulfill me and as the years passed, my interaction with the sea slowly transformed into a passion. I passed my first scuba diving diploma in 2006 and embraced every opportunity to jump into the water and explore its wonders, even when my work as a humanitarian worker took me in remote areas of the planet far from the sea. In 2014, as I transitioned from recreational Scuba diving to Freediving, I discovered the healing properties of apnea and its benefits on both physical and mental health. These brief, but extremely fulfilling moments of underwater meditation, proved to be powerful tools to navigate many struggles of my life. Freediving became a way of life, along with the practice of Yoga and hiking, that naturally came along to complement each other. From 2018, I started devoting the majority of my time to freediving and to activities closely related to it until I finaly became a CMAS freediving instructor. In 2019, I passed my skipper license and I participated in my first AIDA competition as a safety diver. In 2022, the time was finally ripe for bringing to life the first “Adventure of calmness”. We assembled a team of like-minded people sharing the same passion and the same desire to transmit it.

Tjasa Ucakar

Apnea Academy Freediving Instructor, sailor

I learned about freediving by coincidence during swimming training. I used to be more of a mountain and white skiing slopes person, and quite afraid of the sea and its depths. All that fear vanished with my first dives. Underwater, I found my peace, my world, and my passion. In 2018, I passed the Apnea Academy International Instructor Course and became the first female Apnea Academy instructor in Slovenia. In 2019, I also became KAD (Kids as Dolphins) instructor. Plus, I am an active AIDA judge, safety diver and sometimes competitor in depth competitions. In 2016, I became the national champion in pool disciplines, in 2019 I finished third overall in the Authentic Big Blue competition in Greece, and in 2021, 9th in the AIDA World Championship in CWTB. However, my passion is not competing, but helping others in overcoming their fears and learning to submerge into the abyss.

Emilia Biala

Freediving instructor, breathwork trainer, a happy soul

I'm a Freediving Instructor Trainer, a nine-time Polish record holder and a vice-champion of the world in freediving and a breathwork trainer. I have many years of experience in the business and corporate world. Since 2015, I have been sharing my passion for freediving and working with breath and relaxation as a tool of self-awareness and stress management. Currently, I am stationed in Deepspot - the deepest simulator of diving conditions in Europe (-45 m depth), but the nomadic lifestyle is part of my life - and all I need can fit in a backpack. I am totally in love with wild nature.

Stéphane  Christopoulos

Skipper, Charter specialist, wanderer of the seas

With more than 10 years of experience in the yacht charter industry, I created a company specialised in yacht charters in Greece for a French speaking clientele. Half-French, Half-Greek, and based in Athens, I chose this job to share with people the beauty of sailing and of the Greek islands. Now owner of a 46 feet sailboat, I have launched this new project of thematic cruises that gives me the opportunity to work with passionate people. In 2009 I passed the Greek sailing license, in 2014 the RYA Coastal Skipper and in 2018 the advanced sailing Greek license. I passed my open-water Padi certification in 2018 and 2 years later I completed the Advanced certification.
