Safe Routes to School Project Evaluation
Gorzycki Middle School and Mills Elementary School Safe Routes to School Project
Welcome
Thank you for visiting our virtual open house to give feedback on the changes to streets in the neighborhoods of Circle C North, Villages at Western Oaks and Heights at Loma Vista. For a copy of this material by mail, please email mobilitybonds@austintexas.gov or call 512-974-9300.
Project Evaluation Process
The project evaluation process includes the following elements:
- A survey seeking feedback from people who live and travel to, from and within the neighborhoods served by this project, with a focus on three streets in particular: Hillside Terrace Drive, Allerton Avenue and Barstow Avenue;
- Observation and discussion with street users at key locations such as neighborhood mailboxes and school pick-up and drop-off areas during key times of the day and days of the week;
- Analysis of changes to motor vehicle speeds and volumes;
- Two community listening sessions hosted the week of February 17, where participants can mark up their feedback on printed maps of the project and visit with the project team in person. Dates and times are detailed below.
The goal of this process is to comprehensively reevaluate the project to ensure it is meeting the mobility and safety needs of the neighborhoods served by these facilities, including hearing directly from residents as to their preferences. Community preferences will be reflected in a comprehensive feedback report, which will inform decisions on whether to keep, modify or remove the installation.
