Right of Way Projects in SE Portland

Neighborhood initiated projects on unimproved roadways in Woodstock & Brentwood/Darlington

UNIMPROVED ROADWAYS IN SE PDX

As shown on the map to the right, a large percentage of the unimproved roadways throughout the City of Portland are located in SE neighborhoods, primarily in Woodstock and Brentwood Darlington. The City is currently working on the Errol Heights Park master plan, which will address some of the unimproved roadways shown in the southwest portion of the map.

Several of the unimproved roadways form continguous east-west and north-south pathways/corridors that link to schools, provide safe access to commercial centers, as well as passive recreation opportunities along the dirt and gravel pathways. Many residents view these unimproved sections as amenities to be further enhanced.

A FOCUS ON ROADWAYS IN WOODSTOCK AND BRENTWOOD/DARLINGTON

Despite its many unimproved streets, Woodstock is considered one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Portland, and many of its residents live within walking distance to basic services and amenities, most clustered along a ten-block strip of Woodstock Blvd. with others scattered up and down 52nd Avenue. The map to the left showcases transit stops in orange and unimproved roadways in yellow.

There are approximately nine unimproved roadway sections within 5 blocks south of Woodstock Boulevard, running east-west or north-south. These areas are the primary focus of this Right-of-Way neighborhood improvement project, with specific projects and sites highlighted below.

Improved ROW landscape strips in the Woodstock neighborhood

The projects and sites shown below demonstrate areas the Woodstock Neighborhood Association consider value-added projects that enhance the public pedestrian experience and provide context-sensitive plantings and installations that fit the intent of the ROW Improvement Project. This is not an exhaustive list, but only a few project examples to highlight what the WNA would like to see continued to other unimproved roadways and vacant areas around Portland.
