Olive Chapel Community
The area known as the Olive Chapel Community spans the ridge between western Wake County and eastern Chatham County, between White Oak Creek and Beaver Creek. Immigrants from Virginia, eastern North Carolina, England, and many other places settled in the area in the early to mid-1700s. These immigrants were typically searching for new and fertile farmlands. Names of early families included Barker, Beckwith, Cotten, Council, Goodwin, Jenkins, Jenks, Johnson, Lawrence, Mills, Olive, Ragan, and Upchurch.
