Airport Master Plan

Welcome
Welcome to the Laramie Regional Airport (FAA Identifier LAR) Master Plan website. Laramie Regional Airport is preparing an Airport Master Plan which will how the airport can meet aeronautical and community demands now and for the next 20 years. This effort will generate a recommended plan that will prepare the airport for continued service as an economic engine and the preferred aviation gateway for the region.
Airport Master Plan Process
The master plan process is a collaborative effort involving the Laramie Regional Airport staff, City of Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) Aeronautics Division, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), other state and federal government organizations, and the airport users and community at large. This planning effort is necessary to ensure that the Airport has a well-founded plan to grow and meet the vision and aeronautical needs of the entire region.
The development of the Master Plan is done through a systematic process that is reflected in the following graphic and described in detail in the sections below:

Airport Overview
At the onset of an Airport Master Plan, it is important to catalog the current airport facilities and area. Combined with other considerations that may be uncovered during the planning process, this information will serve as the foundation of the master plan.

Investigation
The Investigation Phase of the Airport Master Plan sets the foundation of the overall planning effort. It is designed to answer two questions:
- What is a master plan? ( Introduction Chapter )
- Who are we today? ( Inventory Chapter )
- Where are we going? ( Forecast Chapter )

Solutions
The Solutions Phase is the heart of an Airport Master Plan. Solid needs analyses and a method to spot the best solutions is critical. Beyond that, the right solutions need to be objectively chosen and supported by those who are called on to approve, implement, and ultimately live with the final plan. It is designed to answer three questions:
- What do we need today and in the future? ( Facility Requirements )
- What are our options for meeting the demands of today and tomorrow? ( Analysis of Alternatives )
Implementation
The Implementation Phase concludes the Airport Master Plan Update effort by formulating a financial approach and a development plan to ultimately realize the future vision of the Airport. At its foundation is a comprehensive analysis of the Airport’s ability to implement and financially support the capital program, as well as identifying the factors and enabling projects that need to be managed and accounted for as larger objectives are pursued over time. It is designed to answer two questions:
- What are the financial implications of the Master Plan? (Under Development)
- What are our next steps? (Under Development)
