Directions:
- Click the "expand" button on the top right corner of the interactive map to expand the map and view more details.
- Clicking on any given unit will provide data about that unit, including its name, parent formation, basing location, military unit (в/ч) number, and sourcing.
This interactive map shows more order of battle details the further a user zooms in within the map.
The zoom level can be found on the bottom right corner of the map. Note that several individual units are based in close proximity to one another and will appear as a cluster until a user zooms in on them further. This is true for elements of the 1st Guards Tank Army, for example. Seeing all the elements of this army requires users to zoom into the 500 m - 1000 m range.
Starting resolution: The map by default shows Russian combined arms armies, fleets, and Russia's foreign-based ground forces in Armenia, Tajikistan, and occupied Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine. These formations and units are subordinate directly to Russia's five military districts.
200 km: Russian corps, Airborne Forces (VDV), Spetsnaz brigades subordinate to the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (GRU), and separate brigades subordinate to military districts appear at 200 km.
100 km: Russian ground forces divisions appear at 100 km.
50 km: All other Russian brigades, regiments, and some separate battalions appear at 50 km.
200 m: Individual known military land use plots appear at 200 meters.
Reading Command and Control Lines
Command and control lines between Russians units are color-coded as follows to show command relationships:
- Western Military District (WMD): Purple
- Southern Military District (SMD): Orange
- Central Military District (CMD): Yellow
- Eastern Military District (EMD): Dark Blue
- Northern Fleet Joint Strategic Command (NFJSC): Red
- Russian Airborne Forces (VDV): Light Blue
Note that Russian divisions have darker command and control lines to highlight the command relationship between divisions and higher formations. Note that VDV units and their command and control lines are light blue to represent that their chain of command reports to Russia's Airborne Forces Headquarters, not a military district.
