Regional Drought Contingency Plan
Three Valleys Municipal Water District
Although California experienced record-level storms in 2023, consecutive years of consistent rainfall are required to bolster our region’s current water supplies. However, drought conditions caused by hot, dry weather are estimated to continue in the future.
Now is the time to plan before severe drought impacts return.
Three Valleys Municipal Water District (TVMWD) acknowledges the need to address regional water supply reliability challenges in consideration of the potential for severe drought conditions and associated variabilities in water availability in the future as a result of climate change.
To address these needs, TVMWD is embarking on the preparation of a Water Resources Master Plan and Drought Contingency Plan (WRMP and DCP).
These plans will identify and prioritize projects and actions to be included in a roadmap enhancing the region’s water supply portfolio.
The TVMWD Regional DCP is an interactive and collaborative effort with TVMWD, its 13 member agencies and the cities they serve, and other regional stakeholders possibly impacted by the drought.
The TVMWD Regional DCP is developing a Drought Planning Task Force comprised of our 13 member agencies and local stakeholders who will provide feedback and disseminate information about DCP updates and decisions.
Everyone who is interested in participating in the development of the Regional DCP is invited to provide input. Planning is expected to be completed by 2024.
