Penrose trail in Story Wyoming
The Town of Story was founded in 1893 by a man named Marshall Wolfe, who moved there from Montana. It was named after Charles P. Story who was a state representative from Sheridan county. Story is still here to this day and has a population of about 983 as of 2022 .From hiking to fishing there many things that you can do in story. Nestled among the pines between North and South Piney Creeks, this wooded bedroom community has long been a popular retreat for locals and visitors alike. It's beautiful all year round and has amazing trails to explore with your family and friends. There are trails scattered all around the small town of story. Penrose Trail is one of the most popular with a length of 6.9-miles there and back. The estimated time to complete is about 3 hours and 46 minutes. It's popular for birding, hiking, off-road driving, and just enjoying some peace and quiet out in nature.

If your hiking South Piney Creek Trail you will see lots of beautiful views of the river. The creek is about 24 miles long and goes through Bighorn, Cloud peak Wilderness, Rocky Mountains, and Story, Wyoming.
The forest Around South Piney creek Trail is filled with all sorts of animals and wildlife.
Near the Penrose trailhead there is a fish hatchery that lots of people like to visit. The Story Fish Hatchery is one of the ten fish hatcheries and fish rearing stations operated by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Located in the scenic ponderosa pine forest at the base of the Bighorn Mountains, the hatchery provides visitors with a unique opportunity to observe fish and local wildlife.
