Environmental Racism in Virginia

This project involves analyzing Virginia with respect to landfills and other hazardous waste sites; also known as contaminated sites in order to ascertain if there is a correlation between high concentration of minorities and proximity

Environmental racism refers to how minority group neighborhoods—populated primarily by people of color and members of low-socioeconomic backgrounds—have a disproportionate amount of hazards including toxic waste facilitates, garbage dumps, and other sources of environmental pollutions that lower the quality of life.

Enviromental racism can lead to different diseases and cancers. Because of this, as the fight with climate change worsens, minority communities will be disproportionally affected.
