  • Describe some of the aims and achievements of the Progressives during the Roosevelt and Wilson administrations? What social, political, economics “ills” or problems were they trying to solve? Where were they successful? If you were alive during the Progressive Era would you have agreed with most of the Progressive Reforms? Explain your answers. 
  • How does Roosevelt’s domestic policy known as the Square Deal embody the principles associated with Progressive Era? Explain your answer.
  • Describe linkages between the reform agenda of the Progressives and a commitment to social stability? Why you do think many Progressives found it necessary to put forth the policies and/or proposals they did? In other words, what needed reforming?
  • Examine both the Progressive Party and the Democratic Party Platforms in 1901. Why are both of these platforms considered to include progressive policies? Use specific references to both documents as well as from other sources assigned for this topic within your answer. What social, political, and economic problems were both parties trying to solve?
  • Describe the basics of the 16th, 17th, and 19th Amendments to the Constitution. Why are each of these amendments considered "progressive" amendments? In other words, explain how and why each amendment came about. Finally, what were the conservative arguments against each amendment? 
  • What were the arguments made both for and against women’s suffrage? Why do you think it took until 1920 and after the Constitution had been amended 18th times for the passage of the 19th Amendment, which made national the women’s right to vote? Explain your answers.
