CASTELDACCIA, SICILY

Is a town of 11,628 inhabitants and comune near the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy.

I chose Casteldaccia because I have traveled there many times before. My dad is Italian and I have family currently living there. I felt like it would be perfect for this Story Map because I have my own pictures and experience that go hand in hand with what we have learned.

Lido La Nacelle

The Lido is a public beach in Casteldaccia. It is not your normal beach. It is a rocky road that you can only get to by walking and has no sand only platforms and rocks. Once you get down there is it breath taking and the water is super warm! I chose this to be my first Instagramable spot because I have taken beautiful pictures myself here for my own feed. According to Arch Daily's guide this would be considered views.

Palazzo dei Normanni

This would be considered a mural under Arch's daily guide to Instagramable pictures. This may not be a modern mural on a street wall, but it was still hand painted and on a ceiling. This mural can be found in Palazzo dei Normanni and it was painted ages ago and still holds up its beauty. Who wouldn't want a picture of this on their Instagram?

Street view on Google Maps of Instagramable places:

For this location it is hard to find on Google because there is not truly a road for it.

Google has more pictures of inside the palace and information on this location because it is very popular. I chose this screenshot because the street view did not show the palace.

Projection

This projection shows the most northern, southern, eastern, and western part of Casteldaccia in an Oblique Lambert azimuthal equal-area projection that was suggested for my city.

Thank you!

Casteldaccia may be small, but it has beauty, blue beaches, warm weather, and many entertainment. Thank you for taking the time to learn more!
