SAR Ship Detection

Introduction

Ship detection plays an important role in port management i.e. ship traffic, maritime rescue, cargo transportation and national defense construction. Satellite imageries provides data with high spatial and temporal resolution which is very useful for ship detection. SAR data has advantage over optical data as microwaves are capable to penetrate clouds and can be used in all weathers, SAR data is also useful to locate ships during storms for rescue missions.
