Chamberlain Area Transportation Study

This project examines walking, biking, transit, freight, and vehicular needs by looking 20 years ahead. We want to anticipate mobility challenges before they occur, while also looking at which current mobility trends may be a good fit for the community.

Over the next 12 months, we need your help identifying challenges to getting around, safety hazards, preferences, and recommendations for funding multimodal improvements within the city and surrounding area. 

A transportation plan represents the “universe” of projects at the planning-level (non-engineering), each of which will be further examined by project engineers before construction can begin (2-5 years later). These projects take time to properly identify, design, and build, and this plan is the first step!

What are we accomplishing with this plan?

1. Identifying a comprehensive vision for transportation needs near Chamberlain (SD)
2. Prioritizing potential projects, programs, and policies to improve our roadways for all users
3. Providing recommendations for a more connected and efficient transportation network
4. Developing a framework of identified projects, with constructability in mind

This project webpage connects YOU – Chamberlain area residents, business owners, and other stakeholders – with the project team. For the plan to be successful, we need to hear from you!
