Tłı̨chǫ Government has made the decision to postpone the Eghàlats’ììda / Let’s Work, Tłı̨chǫ Workers Gathering scheduled for May 17th and May 18th at the Kǫ) Gocho Sportsplex Centre in Behchokǫ). This decision comes as a result of the wildfires occurring in Hay River and Kátł'odeeche First Nation reserve as well as two deaths in our community. We expect to reschedule this event in the fall and will communicate a future date as soon as possible. Masì cho to everyone that has dedicated their time and resources to this event, notably our staff, sponsors, prizes donors, career & resource fair representatives, and speakers; we will continue working with you in the future. For our participants, sponsors, booth vendors, and speakers, our team will be in touch as soon as possible. The Eghàlats'ììda / Let's Work Gathering will bring together Tłı̨chǫ youth, Tłı̨chǫ mine employees and remote workers; with the goal of celebrating these workers and raising awareness of the many careers available both in and out of the mine sector. The Eghàlats'ììda / Let's Work Gathering is open to all Tłı̨chǫ Citizens.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their mining and remote work experiences and learn about future employment and training opportunities, including post-mine closure.

In addition, the gathering will include:

  • Special guest speakers
  • Live demonstrations
  • Industry presentations
  • Interactive displays
  • Prize draws and giveaways

Tłı̨chǫ Youth:

The gathering was planned with Tłı̨chǫ youth in mind and the desire to promote and support their transition into the workforce.

During the event, youth will engage in:

  • Live demonstrations
  • Conversations with people in the industry and mining professionals
  • Interactive trade skills activities

Youth will also have the opportunity to learn about:

  • Mine safety
  • The diversity of employment opportunities
  • Training and apprenticeship opportunities available to them

When is the date of the rescheduled gathering? 

We are currently exploring possible dates to reschedule the event and will share this as soon as possible. 

Why has the gathering been postponed?

The decision to postpone the gathering came as a result of the wildfires occurring in Hay River and on Kátł'odeeche First Nation reserve, as well as two deaths in our community.

Who should attend the gathering?

The goal of Eghàlats'ììda / Let's Work Gathering is to bring together Tłı̨chǫ youth, Tłı̨chǫ mine employees and remote workers. We encourage those that are open to work or are looking to make a career change to attend, as well as students and families. Eghàlats'ììda / Let's Work is open to all Tłı̨chǫ Citizens.

Will the agenda for the gathering remain the same? 

The agenda for Eghàlats'ììda / Let's Work will depend on the availability of our speakers and booth representatives. We will update the agenda as soon as possible.
