Bricktown Fire Station

21 N Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73104

This property, which now houses the LEED-certified Bricktown Fire Station #6, was impacted by historic oil and gas activities. The OERB jumped on the opportunity to clean up this property--as their 10,000th site!

ASSESSMENT AND CLEANUP

May 2008 - Phase I

RECs included historic oil and gas production, heavy industrial pasts of the surrounding buildings, several above-ground oil/fuel storage tanks, an oil well, a roundhouse for the Rock Island & Pacific Railway. The building on site contained a lot of miscellaneous items--including horse carriages.

Dec. 2008 - Phase II

Conducted by BWR for City of OKC. Chemicals of Concern addressed as part of this investigation included TPH-GRO and TPHDRO, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), naphthalene, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) metals, and full scan volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

2009 - Cleanup

Soil on the east side of the site was determined to be impacted by historic oil and gas activities, and therefore under the jurisdiction of the OCC.

June 2009 - OERB Cleanup

The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board removed 600 cubic yards of contaminated soil from this site and then smoothed and graded the remaining soil. The soil was provided to Logan County District #1 for road material. This was OERB's 10,000th site!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIBO6V7NBFM

2010 - Site Closure

On March 5, 2010, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission issued a Certificate of Remediation Completion to the City of Oklahoma City for this site.
