My Atlantis Resort Story Map
Welcome to the exotic resort of your dreams on Paradise Island - Atlantis
Introduction
Last summer, it was my sister's 6th birthday and my family celebrated by traveling to Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island of the Bahamas. When we landed at Nassau airport, the exotic heat and the lively island music of the Bahamas were amazing.

Driving to Atlantis Resort!
Paradise Island can only be reached from Nassau by a bridge connecting the two islands. We took the Atlantis shuttle bus to the resort and I got the opportunity to see many great views of the island and the culture of this place. There were little huts where people would sell items like boogie boards, cool souvenirs, and your typical island themed clothes.

Atlantis, Paradise Island - The Reef Hotel
When we got to the Reef hotel, I could see that there were 5 main hotel buildings that made up the resort. We went to one of the newest hotels of the 5 (The Reef) where it was less packed so it was a bit more peaceful and enjoyable.

The Natural Beauty of the Atlantis Resort
Atlantis Resort, Bahamas is located on Paradise Island and is surrounded by Baha Mar Resort, palm trees, Paradise Lake, and the Atlantic ocean. In Paradise Lake, animals like turtles, dolphins, fishes, and sharks live in their natural habitat.
Did you know that Atlantis was built in 1998? At the time, there were only Beach and Coral Towers. Now there are 5 main buildings - The Royal, Coral, Beach, Reef, and Cove. The entire resort consists of multiple beaches on the Northside such as Cove Beach and Cabbage Beach.

The Coolest Way of Traveling in the Bahamas
The most unique method of transportation in Paradise Island by water is ferries and boats. The Bahamas Fast Ferries are used to travel from Nassau to the surrounding islands (i.e. Grand Bahamas, Paradise Island, Great Exuma, etc). You can use the ferries to ship freight and goods, or just enjoy the natural beauty of the Bahamas.

You can also take boat tours around the island to see marine animals and eat a nice dinner on the boat. Some boat excursions can last up to 2 days because you can sleep on the boat. One day, my family went out for dinner and relaxed at the patio where we saw ferries coming into the dock and boats sailing along the shore in the sunset. It was spectacular!

What We Did During Our Stay
We spent the whole week going to the Cove & Cabbage beaches, the Aqua venture waterpark, pools, lazy rivers and so much more. This was my sister and I's favorite part about Atlantis. I found this cool, big shell near the shore and got to keep it. It was so shiny and colorful. Every day, my sister wanted to go to the water slides and the river rapids in the Aquaventure waterpark. We got to try many different restaurants and one of them that stood out to me the most was Poseidon's Table which had the Marine Habitat of Atlantis and overlooked the entire resort. Absolutely stunning!

What We Did Outside of Atlantis
Outside of the hotel, we got to explore the culture and traditions of the Bahamas. We went snorkeling and swam with a lot of cool fishes in Paradise Lake. One day, we toured the city and went to the local market where we bought rum, jams, and souvenirs. We rented a car for our trip and drove around the city as well. There were tropical food, drinks, and clothes... you name it! Then, in the evening, we drove back to Cabbage and Paradise beach, dipped our toes in the sand, and watched the sunset

A Day in Paradise! The Lagoon Tour
We went on the world-famous Lagoon tour. A group of 10 people including my family boarded a boat and set sail along the island. Along the way, we saw a lot of marine wildlife such as tropical fishes and dolphins. It was truly amazing. Then, we docked our boat at a different part of the island where we saw a family of sea stars and got to touch them.

The Lagoon Tour - Part 2
We got to hold them up and it felt very rough and spiky on the outside. We had a late lunch at the Dive In quick bites restaurant but there were so many seagulls and pigeons that flew around. The sad part was heading home, thinking about when we would be able to come back.
