District of Coldstream Official Community Plan Update

NORTH KALAMALKA AREA PLAN: JOIN THE CONVERSATION

The District of Coldstream is developing a North Kalamalka Area Plan (formerly the Head of the Lake Plan) for the non-residential lands surrounding Kal Beach, between Pumphouse Beach and Kalavista Boat Launch.

As part of the Official Community Plan process, the District is seeking resident feedback on what currently works well, what needs improvement, and how to enhance the North Kalamalka area in the future. This feedback will be used to help guide the development of the Official Community Plan later this year.

The District of Coldstream is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) to guide the future of our community. The OCP will set a vision for the year 2050 and outlines priorities and policies for the District to work toward. We need your input to ensure the OCP reflects our community's vision and priorities.

WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN?

An OCP is a comprehensive long-term planning document that directs the growth and development of our community.

The OCP guides hundreds of municipal decisions each year, impacting how and where we live, ways of getting around, access to services, and how we grow. It provides guidance and direction on several topic areas, including:

  • Agriculture
  • Art, Culture and Heritage
  • Economic Development
  • Environment and Climate
  • Housing
  • Infrastructure
  • Land use
  • Parks, Trails and Recreation
  • Social Supports and Services
  • Transportation

PROJECT TIMELINE

The OCP project is a multi-year process with 6 phases. We are currently in Phase 2. The feedback you provide during this phase will help inform the development of the draft vision and policy direction of the OCP.

ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We need your input! To ensure the OCP reflects everyone's vision for the future, we'll be engaging with community members over the next year.

This is your chance to have a say in the future of Coldstream. By planning together, we can create an OCP that benefits everyone and keeps Coldstream a great place to live.

PHASE ONE

The first phase of engagement focused on gathering input from community members on their priorities and vision for Coldstream in 2050. Residents were invited to participate in a number of in-person pop-up events, an open house and online survey to share their thoughts. The feedback collected through this phase will help inform the development of the draft Official Community Plan.
