Resident Parking Scheme, Exmouth 2022

Formal Consultation starting from 3rd August 2022 till 24th August 2022

This page was created to provide residents in Exmouth with information on the proposals for residents’ parking schemes in Exmouth and how to have their say in the formal consultation.

Introduction

Overview

Members of the community in Exmouth contacted Devon County Council (DCC) about difficulties they faced parking on street in their local area. Based on these reports, DCC ran a consultation in October 2019 to measure the support for a residents’ parking scheme in certain areas in Exmouth.

A residents’ parking scheme aims to ensure that residents will have priority to park within their own area and at the same time, take the needs of local schools and businesses into consideration.

The intention of the scheme is to ensure that residents have priority parking within the area where they live. At the same time, the scheme aims to ensure that local businesses and other employment hubs are not unfairly disadvantaged.

Devon County Council is now running a consultation starting on 3rd August 2022 till 24th August 2022 to decide whether to introduce resident parking restrictions in certain areas in Exmouth.

We are looking for local residents and businesses, as well as those who work and travel in the area to provide us with feedback on these proposals before 24th August 2022

Residents’ Parking Scheme

Residents’ parking schemes are designed to discourage all-day commuter parking in residential areas. They allocate the available on-street parking capacity to residents and their visitors through the use of permits.

Where shops and businesses are located within residential areas, business permits are available to buy and limited waiting or pay and display parking are often included in a scheme.
