U.S. Northwest

Regional Health Impacts

The U.S. Northwest region is comprised of three states, including Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

The Northwest region faces negative health effects from climate change, including:

  • Temperature-related death and illness
  • Poor air quality
  • Vector-borne diseases
  • Water-borne illness
  • Poor food safety and access to nutritious food
  • Poor mental health

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, indigenous communities, people with low-income, and farmworkers are more susceptible to climate risks in this region.  Learn more about the Northwest regional health impacts .
