City Centre roof top garden project and LED lighting at Galway City Partnership will help build low carbon communities. This will be a Show case rooftop vegetable garden to be rolled out across the city.

This project will see an electric vehicle (EV) charging point installed in COPE Galway’s Community Catering kitchen.

Purchasing of an electric cargo bike for deliveries, cycle parking outside café for customers, roll out of 2GoCups deposit and return coffee cup scheme in the café and establishment of a waste reduction and recycling program.

Family bike hire scheme

A novel bike subscription scheme for the city which will make it affordable for families to hire quality bikes without the high upfront costs associated with purchasing them. Customers will pay an affordable monthly subscription based on the bike and their child's needs. When a child grows out of the bike, it is simply exchanged for a bigger one.

This project will make the Salthill Handball Club building more energy efficient by wall and roof insulation, switching to low energy lights and appliances, and using smart controls.

Project will consist of a major renovation of the building in order to achieve a cost optimal level of energy performance (wall and ceiling insulation, new windows, Solar PV, new electric heaters) purchasing of sewing machines to facilitate a sustainable sewing group for 17-25 years; and an outside herb garden.

Tuatha of Terryland Forest Park & Friends of Little Woods

Nature Without Borders

Tuath of Terryland Forest - To develop a native Tree Nursery from the seedlings from existing trees in the forest, a Heritage Orchard and Willow Tree farm and native hedgerow. They are leasing the land for free from Galway City Council as it is a GCC park.

Friends of little woods - Purchase 1 hectare in Clabby, Co. Fermanagh and create a mini wet woodland and a native plant nursery at Catherines Wood, Fivemiletown, Co. Tyrone with the use of a poly tunnel. The mini forest in Northern Ireland will be managed in a way that maintains the site as wet woodland and where appropriate, drains will be blocked to raise the water table.
