BOOSTER DOSE
You are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines when you have received all doses in the primary series and all boosters recommended for you, when eligible.
Vaccine recommendations are based on your age, the vaccine you first received, and time since your last dose. People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised have different recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines .
CDC recommends one updated (bivalent) booster dose:
- For everyone aged 5 years and older if it has been at least 2 months since your last dose
- For children aged 6 months – 4 years who completed the Moderna primary series and if it has been at least 2 months since their last dose
To find out when you can get your booster, use the CDC booster tool to determine your eligibility .
CURRENT ELIGIBLITY
All individuals 6 months and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

AFTER VACCINATION
COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you from getting COVID-19. You may have some side effects, which are normal signs that your body is building protection. The safety of the COVID-19 vaccine is a top priority.
Common side effects include pain or swelling on the arm where you got the shot. You may also experience fever, chills, tiredness, or headache.
If your side effects are worrying you or do not seem to be going away after a few days, contact your healthcare provider. If you get a COVID-19 vaccine and you think you might be having a severe allergic reaction after leaving the vaccination site, seek immediate medical care by calling 911.
Register for CDC v-safe. Use your smartphone to tell CDC about any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. You’ll also get reminders if you need a second vaccine dose.
