Tours, hayrides, games, crafts, prizes, samples at participating farms from 10:00 to 4:00
Experience a sampling of local farms, products and activities at the Sullivan County Farm Day on September 28th, 10 am -4pm. Participating farms are offering an open house at their locations throughout the county. You will be able to meet animals, taste local foods, watch demonstrations, tour various operations and enjoy other farm specific activities. Visit these farms any time from 10 am to 4 pm on September 28th, to learn about local agriculture right in your backyard!

Five Sisters Farm
986 Route 12A Plainfield, NH
Events on Farm Day Pet and cuddle friendly sheep and lambs, watch sheep shearing and fiber arts demonstrations, join in hands-on activities with 4-H and learn about how wool goes from sheep to yarn. Hot lunch and desserts will be available for purchase.
About Five Sisters Farm Five Sisters Farm raises Shetland sheep for their prized wool, and sells natural yarn, roving, hand-crafted knit and felted items. Shop at the seasonal farm shop and check out their many soft woolly selections.

Bascom Road Blueberry Farm

Events on Farm Day Farm pressed apple cider and assorted dip mix samples, fair style fresh cooked kettle corn by Mt. View Fudge, pumpkin seed contest, PYO pumpkins, 4-H rabbit and poultry interactive demonstrations, and face painting (11 am - 1 pm).
About Bascom Road Blueberry Farm Bascom Road Blueberry Farm has an on-site farm stand that is open year-round and is full of goodies right from their farm and surrounding small businesses.
They seasonally offer pick-your-own strawberries, blueberries and pumpkins.

Beaver Pond Farm

Events on Farm Day Self-guided walking tours, games for kids, pick-your-own apples (and raspberries if available). Farm tours, 4-H and kids' activities, tractor rides, and farm animal meet and greets. Cruisin' Cow will be selling ice cream and Future Farmers of America will be there serving burgers, hot dogs and cotton candy!
About Beaver Pond Farm Beaver Pond Farm's farm stand is located on John Stark Highway and is stocked with beef, maple products, fresh veggies, berries, apples, homemade pies, baked goods, locally made gourmet treats, pumpkins, squash and holiday greenery. You can pick your own apples, blueberries, and raspberries on their farm.

Urban Agriculture Project

Learn how local goats help the city of Claremont.
About the Urban Agriculture Project
Working with the Sullivan County Conservation District, local goats are “rented” to the city of Claremont to help manage brush and invasive plant species. The owners of the Claremont Spice & Dry Goods shop have a small herd of milking goats from which they make cheese to sell at their shop. They work with the Conservation District and the city of Claremont, moving their goats to graze at various city locations. Meet the goats at the Claremont Visitors Center Park and visit with their owners, Ben Nelson and Chiara Tosi-Nelson to learn about their goats and the role they play to benefit the city landscape.

Hilltop Farm

Events on Farm Day Farm Tours at 11 am and 2 pm focusing on solar energy use and rotational grazing. Hands-on activities for families. Beef for sale.
About Hilltop Farm Hilltop Farm raises 100 percent grass fed and finished Hereford beef using intensive rotational grazing that uses 100 tons of hay per year to feed the herd. Beef is available for purchase at the farm.

Dancing Bear Farm

About Dancing Bear Farm Dancing Bear Farm is a newly established small but diversified farm in Claremont NH. The farm offers educational programs, farm stays, and pasture-raised poultry.

Cat Swamp Farm

Events on Farm Day
Learn about native plants, play with old fashioned wooden toys such as stilts, join the fun and play a game like ring toss, and learn about how oxen help out with work on the farm.
About Cat Swamp Farm
Cat Swamp Farm is a native plant nursery, small lumber mill and woodshop dedicated to ecosystem health. They raise and sell native perennials that are friendly to pollinators, wildlife, soil, and water quality from sustainably harvested seed and cuttings.

About Long View Farm Long View Farm is a diversified farm utilizing Suffolk Punch and Percheron Draft Horses. They offer wagon, carriage, and sleigh rides, protein CSA shares, firewood, and hay.

About Parnassus Farm Parnassus Farm is an award-winning dairy farm recognized for their conservation practices and contributions to local agricultural education. They sell raw milk from their Jerseys & Holsteins.

Bascom Farm

Events on Farm Day Sample in-season produce and lamb, join a guided tour of the farm and learn about their efforts to focus on local markets and adopt climate resiliency practices into their operations.
About Bascom Farm Bascom Farm raises organic produce available through subscription shares, online orders, and SNAP/Granite State Market Match. Their grass-fed lamb is USDA inspected and available in cuts as well as whole or half freezer by custom order.
Passport and Prizes
A fun feature of the day will be the “Passport to Sullivan County Farms” event. Visitors can collect a passport at participating farm locations when they start their day. A PDF of the passport will also be available for print here. Collect a stamp from each farm you visit on September 28th and be eligible for a variety of prizes. At the end of the day drop your passport at the last farm you visit to enter a drawing for a grand prize gift basket featuring an assortment of local products and farm experiences valued at over $400. You can also bring or mail your passport to the UNH Extension office in Newport by October 1, 2024 (directions on the passport)
