The Problem with Poop

Many Small Sources, Big Problem!

It doesn't seem like a big deal to many, but pet waste left behind is one of the causes of water pollution. After it rains, pet waste washes down storm drains and bodies of water such as streams, rivers, and lakes.

Pet waste contains parasites, viruses, and bacteria.

Fecal coliform is found in most of Broward County's water bodies. When water bodies are polluted, they're classified as impaired waters.
