Roadside Stand Tour August 18th, 2024
Take a trip through Strathcona County with a purpose. Stop at designated driveways that will be hosting local vendors. From Vegetables and beef to crafts and artisans. Think of it as a farmers market style opportunity that instead of walking from one booth to the next you hop in your car and travel through the beautiful countryside making an occasional stop to purchase from and meet local vendors. Pick up a passport at your first stop and collect stamps at each stop to enter for great prizes.
Please note for the tour some of these producers will be at sites other than their farms to make it more convenient for you to visit them all. Use the addresses listed here to find them on August 18th.
Start your trip at 22177 Wye Road. This is the first stop in the area. This is also the stop where you can register for your Roadside Stand Passport. Have your passport stamped at a minimum of four Roadside Stand stops to be eligible for some great prizes.
Community Greenhouse Project Stand

Here you will be introduced to the Ardrossan Recreation and Agricultural Society’s Sustainable Food Project. This community project is designed to address food sustainability. Learn more about the project and the many other activities the Ag society is involved in. You-dig potatoes will be available for purchase at this stop.
Potato stamping, information on Three Sisters Planting and the Strathcona County Bookmobile will be located at this stop.
The Farm

Just like any farm you will find a smattering of many things. Local products and even an opportunity to choose and dig up a spruce tree to take home with you. Farm fresh eggs (while they last for $5 a dozen), Peacock feathers ($2), The Original Feed Bag shopping bags ($8-10), Jr Farmers Firewood bundles ($10 -great for camping), “Dig a Spruce Tree” ($5 -bring a container to take your tree home with you).
Grove on Wye

Tour the workshops, shop the vendor’s products, and weather permitting, Grove On Wye Wellness Walk, a private 12 acre treed trail system on our farm, will be open for self-guided tours.

Meet the operators of Nossa Farm. Nossa Farms raise queen bees and sell the excess honey and bees from the hives. They will have their honey for purchase and their knowledge of genetics to share.
Wildwood Perennials
Also at this stop, Wildwood Perennials will be set up. Purchase some new to you perennials to plant in your flowerbeds.
Dreamcatcher’s Nature Assisted Therapy

Learn about how animals are an integral part of the healing and learning process for people from all walks of life, especially those who experience difficulty getting help. Bring along your picnic basket and stop and enjoy a picnic lunch in this tranquil setting.

Here you can purchase local farm products that include grass fed beef, pasture pork and even some select vegetables. Have a visit with the mini donkey, JJ, and other farm animals during your stay. Purchase on the farm or find out more about how you can order meat packages online.

8 Acres Coffee
Also located at the Unboutiqied stop is 8 acres coffee Though many would say coffee is a necessity there are certainly some amazing flavours you will find from this boutique roaster. Grown in the Antiqua Valley in Guatemala and roasted in Sherwood Park this micro lot specialty company not only has great coffee but a great story.
