History of Great Danes
Great Dane History
Great Danes originated from Germany, and has been around for more than 400 years. Originally Great Danes were bred for hunting; specifically to hunt Boars. Although since they were big dogs they were also used for protection of country estates. They were bred from a English Mastiff and a Irish Wolfhound to result in a powerful and huge dog.
Here is where Great Danes originally originated from.

This here is one of the first bred Great Danes who was bred for hunting bear, boar, and deer in 1705. After a while this type of breed was lost and was only used later for luxury or for a hobby.
Description of Great Danes
Great Danes are a large dog breed that stands at least 30 inches from the floor to their shoulders. They weigh between as much as 100-200 pounds when they are fully done growing. Back when Danes were used to hunt boars they used to crop their ears to make it more efficient to run and hunt. Now, although it is common in the United States it is less common in other countries. In other countries like the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Denmark, they have the practice of cropping banned.
The Great Dane breed have a total of six different coats
