ArcGIS CityEngine

Students, staff, and faculty at Clemson University can install  ArcGIS CityEngine  on their computers. The installer is available for download from a Clemson Network Drive.

Before installing ArcGIS CityEngine, please review the  system requirements .

The installation process consists of the following four steps:

Installing ArcGIS CityEngine Steps

1.   Connecting to Clemson Software Network Drive

1.1 To copy the CityEngine installer from Clemson Software Network Drive, you must be connected to the Clemson University campus network.

Map Network Drive

1.2 Once you are connected to the Clemson University campus network (e.g., eduroam WiFi) you are ready to map a Clemson Network Drive to access installers. Open File Explorer, then select This PC from the menu on the left.

1.3 Click the three dots in the tool bar and select Map network drive.

Map Network Drive (cont.)

1.4 In the Folder field, enter: \\software.clemson.edu\software

\\software.clemson.edu\software is the Clemson Software Network Drive - available to students, faculty, and staff. For more details, refer to "  How to map a Clemson network drive  " .

  • Choose any drive letter from the Drive dropdown menu.
  • Check Reconnect at sign-in to enable automatic connection upon login (requires campus network access).
  • Check Connect using different credentials.
  • Click Finish.

1.5 When prompted, enter your Clemson University username and password in the Windows Security dialog box. Optionally, check Remember my credentials.

1.6 Click OK.

2. Copy Installer

2.1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the Software folder.

Access the Software folder

2.2 In the Software folder, open: \ESRI\Windows\ArcGIS_CityEngine

2.3 Locate the latest version (typically highest year and version number, e.g., 2024.1 as of February 2025), right click the folder and select Copy.

Download an installer to a local folder

2.4 Navigate to a local folder on your computer where you want to save the installer. In this example, the folder was saved in C drive (e.g., C:\ArcGIS\CItyEngine). Right-click the target folder and select Paste.

Avoid saving files in cloud-synced folders (e.g., OneDrive, Google Drive) to prevent delays and unnecessary cloud storage usage.

3. Installing the software
