Pape Village is located in a relatively flat area, which has influenced the design of the neighborhood. The streets are relatively narrow and often lined with trees, giving the neighborhood a comfortable and welcoming feel. The location of parks and green spaces has been carefully chosen to provide residents with a place to relax and enjoy nature. The commercial buildings, small shops, restaurants, and cafes are located in close proximity to residential buildings, creating a sense of community within the neighborhood. Overall, the physical landscape has influenced the design of Pape Village to create a livable, walkable, and enjoyable community for its residents.

Social aspects

Pape village is located in the Danforth ward. The population was 106,875 as of 2016, a growth of 2.7% from 2011 to 2016. The majority of the population ranged between 25 to 44. 32,940 (31%) of the population in my neighborhood are immigrants. The unemployment rate in pape village is 6.8% and the employment rate is 65%. 16% of the population does not get a high school diploma, 22% did get a high school diploma, and 62% attends post secondary school. As of the census in 2016 only 5.5% of the population owned a condominium.

Urban issues

One of the few issues that Pape Village is currently facing is the lack of affordable housing options. The neighbourhood is home to many low-income families and individuals, and there is a high demand for affordable housing in the area. However, there are limited options for affordable housing, which can make it difficult for people to find safe and stable housing. Additionally, the cost of housing is roughly around 40% higher than the TO average which can  be prohibitively expensive for many families, which can contribute to homelessness and housing insecurity. It’s important for the city to invest in affordable housing initiatives, such as the creation of new affordable housing units and rent control measures. These initiatives can help ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing in Pape Village and throughout the city.

Solution or redevelopment

The issue I talked about was the lack of affordable housing. I think the government should help those people who don’t have money to buy a house by giving them a certain amount of money so they can pay for rent, or maybe helping these people get a job. The government should think about adding shelters in some places for people who can’t pay for rent.
