Introduction
The City’s Commercial Recycling team manages the Green Business Certified (GBC) program, developed to recognize businesses committed to resource conservation. To earn certification, eligible businesses must meet several prerequisites, including single-stream recycling. Candidates must then complete a checklist of specific green initiatives: general education; waste reduction; energy efficiency; water efficiency and pollution prevention. For companies that wish to elevate their sustainability efforts, there is an elective Innovation category. The City of Plano intends to ensure GBC businesses maintain environmental integrity and are authentic in their actions and results.
