Environment and Climate Change action in Angus
An interactive map showcasing action on climate and environment within Angus.
Background
Communities in Angus have felt the acute impacts of climate change in recent years. From the devastating flooding in Brechin as a result of Storm Babet, to the increased erosion of the sand dunes in Montrose - the effects of climate change are becoming more prominent.
In addition, agriculture is highly vulnerable to climate change therefore farmers and landowners in Angus may experience impacts including soil erosion and drought.
As a result of the above, communities in Angus are learning to adapt to the changing climate, along with creating community resilience against the increasing likelihood of extreme weather events.
Alongside climate adaptation, climate mitigation is also necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute towards the Scottish national target of net zero by 2045. The Angus Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan analyses area-wide emissions data and outlines actions to reduce emissions across Angus.
