Local Food Stories
Jensen Reserve

My name is Laura Jensen. I am the farmer and butcher at Jensen Reserve in Loganville. I began this journey when my daughter and I were diagnosed with auto immune-diseases in 2013. We quickly realized how our food affected our health. We specialize in Meshian Pork a rare breed of pig originating from China. We are one of the top farms in the country breeding and processing Meshian pork. Pork is just one of the many products we provide through our farm at our farm store onsite and online. We have several lines of Jensen Reserve products, but; we also carry our partner brands as well. Thank you for supporting us in our journey for better health and wellness for us all!

Field Garden

The Field Garden was established in 2010 through a partnership with Walton Wellness INC, The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and St Albans Episcopal Church. It is on the campus of the Walton County Jail. Walton Wellness works with volunteer inmates to plant and harvest produce from the garden. The vegetables are donated to Walton Wellness’s member-based Mobile Farmacy Market for financially burdened Walton Co. Citizens.
The Field Garden also houses the Joe Chapman Educational Garden. The educational space hosts events for kids and adults. The mission of the education garden is for visitors, through hands on learning, leave with an understanding of: the health benefits of vegetable gardening and eating seasonally, the science behind seasonal growing, basics of soil, and what crops are best for our region. It also houses the Walton Co. Master Gardeners Connect to Protect Pollinator Project. Learn more at waltonwellness.org follow us on Facebook and Instagram
Monroe Locally Grown
Monroe Locally Grown is the brain-child of Audrey Fuller of Best Day Farm. Audrey a native of New Jersey moved to Walton County a few years ago for the purpose of fulfilling a life-long dream of owning land to farm. She got involved with Athens Locally Grown and was inspired to start the same model here in Walton. Monroe Locally Grown is a simple user friendly platform that has no membership fees and requires no weekly commitments. The market opens on Saturday and closes Sunday night. You simply peruse the offerings and order what you want. Pick up will be at the Wayfarer Sun Room in Downtown Monroe on Wednesdays from 3-7.
