In January 2024 I will be attending a teaching fellowship in Boston, USA. As I am looking for housing it is important to note how accessible different parts of the city are. The yellow point on the map is where I am considering housing and the blue/green isochrone tells me how far in walking time different parts of the city are. This is incredibly beneficial to my decision making process.
I am a Junior at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. I study both Education Studies and Geosciences and plan to teach at an elementary level. Despite my ambition to become a teacher, I have truly found enjoyment in the different aspects that Geosciences has to offer. GIS is an incredible skill that I have been and continue to work on throughout my college career. I have found such beauty in the art and creation of maps in order to provide the world with more knowledge. I think it is incredible how maps have a way of connecting all humans in various ways. I hope that someday I can use mapping tools to teach my students about the world around them. I know unites like weather and climate could truly benefit from a map, maybe even one I make for the kids!
