Russian (Slavic) Americans
Like countless immigrants before them, many “Russian” speakers immigrated to America in hopes of a better life. New life in America has brought many changes as their language and culture evolved over time. Certain cultural aspects endured, while others slowly deteriorated. The location and the time of immigration greatly affected what cultural aspects thrived and those that fell by the way side. This map will take you on a journey through Minnesota, Washington, California, Missouri and Oregon as it deals with language, culture, identity, ethnicity and the stereotypes that Russians face.
