Careers at Agri-Waste Technology, Inc.
A review of professions found at AWT.
Our Mission
Agri-Waste Technology, Inc. (AWT) is a full-service professional engineering, consulting, and soil scientist firm founded in 1984. For four decades, AWT has been committed to solving challenging waste management and environmental problems for agriculture, industrial, municipal, and residential clients nationwide.
AWT was founded on the mission to provide solutions and alternatives to challenging environmental situations in a simple, concise form. We aim to create designs that meet the clients in their unique situation, that are based on sound scientific/engineering principles, and exceed today's stringent regulatory standards. We work one-on-one with clients to determine the nature of the problem and then develop viable solutions and alternatives. We are not a representative for any equipment manufacturer.
This mission has stayed at the heart of AWT and has resonated with the clients, resulting in our growth and expansion of services. Our goal now is to be the premier engineering, consulting, and soil scientist firm which designs cost-effective and environmentally acceptable waste management solutions for the residential, commercial, municipal, industrial, and livestock industries.
Our goal cannot be accomplished without staff who are also committed to our mission. That is why AWT maintains an experienced staff of professional engineers, soil scientists, wastewater system designers, agronomists, carbon offset verifiers, septic system inspectors, stormwater BMP inspectors, and other environmental technicians who have a customer focused approach and keep current with the latest technology and environmental issues relevant to services AWT provides.

Where We Work
Our work and our mission has taken us across the globe with projects in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, China, Russia, and India.
Now let's take a look at the careers you will find at AWT.
Careers
It's literally in our name, Engineers and Soil Scientists, however there is more to it than a name. AWT has a unique focus in Agriculture, Soil Science, and Residential/Commercial Wastewater Systems Designs. Let's take a closer look to see what that all means.
Wastewater Engineers
Our Wastewater Engineers develop specialized Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems for commercial and residential properties not connected to city sewer. The term onsite is used because the wastewater is treated and dispersed on location.
The areas we work are restrictive and challenging due to the nature of the soil. Our Onsite Wastewater Designs can be simple or complex depending on our client's needs. Most importantly, we find solutions for our clients when no other options are available.
Environmental Engineers
Care has to be taken during development to protect ground water and surface water from sediment and nutrient runoff. AWT's Environmental Engineers create treatment systems with physical and biological processes that remove pollutants before they enter groundwater and waterways. Their focus is less about wastewater in terms of human waste. Instead, it is more about managing runoff that occur from any development.
These treatment systems are paramount in protecting our natural resources. They are necessary before and after a development project. Their appearance seems minimal once in place, however the science, communication and design behind these systems cannot be underestimated.
Agricultural Engineers
A large part of agriculture is managing animal waste. Strategies have to be developed to create a balance between using waste on crops for strong healthy vegetation while being environmentally responsible.
These strategies are at the heart of what our Agricultural Engineers accomplish for Farmers.
They go to farms, see the animals, and work closely with farmers on their land to find realistic solutions for their waste management, energy and natural resource challenges.
Soil Scientists
Our Soil Scientists are not afraid to get dirty. They look closely at soil to understand their characteristics to provide valuable insights for our clients in agriculture, development, and environmental conservation. By analyzing soil composition, texture, fertility, and structure, they assess its suitability for the majority of our projects. As in our tagline "Engineers and Soil Scientists" these professions work in conjunction with each other. Our Engineers depend on our Soil Scientists expertise so we may develop top notch waste systems and sound environmental consultation to our clients.
Carbon Verification/Validation
Greenhouse gas emissions are an environmental concern due to increases in fossil fuel use as the global population continues to increase. Governments and private organizations across the globe are working towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One reduction strategy is the development of carbon offset projects that reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of non-regulated entities.
The reduction of carbon has to be proven or "verified" through certain rules and protocols set by strict industry standards. Our Verifiers are some of the few in this industry that meet these standards. As a result, they work with private agriculture facilities to ensure or "verify" their practices indeed reduce carbon that would otherwise be released into the environment.
Carbon Consultants
Greenhouse Gas emission offsets can be created by collecting and destroying or utilizing biogas created from anaerobic treatment of animal manure, organic waste, municipal solid waste, etc.
Our Carbon Consultants help our non-verification clients find ways to develop their carbon offset projects that reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions. This requires our consultants to understand and apply the strict rules and regulations set by the Carbon offset industry ensuring our client's (potential) carbon offset production is ethical, scientific, and successful.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS supports our engineers and soil scientists by analyzing spatial data to identify environmental characteristics of land. Our GIS Team plays a crucial role in mapping trends identified through the incorporation of field collected data. Their analysis pinpoints areas on a site that require closer inspection, facilitating informed decision-making.
Our GIS Team uses aerial imagery, remote sensing data and authoritative sources to develop maps for our clients to communicate AWT's plan for onsite wastewater management and environmental conservation.
