Introduction

Oregon's first temporary legislature met in 1845. When Oregon became a state in 1859, our current legislative system was established. If you want to learn more about the history of Oregon's Legislative Assembly, you can visit the  Secretary of State's website .

The  Oregon State Legislature website  has many resources for learning about and engaging in activities at the Capitol.

Visitor services share tools on their website so that schools can  take a virtual tour of the Capitol ,  plan a trip to the Capitol , and complete  lesson plans  about the legislative process.
