Brandon Avenue Safety Improvements Project

Between January of 2013 and June of 2020 on Brandon Avenue, between Colonial Ave. and Main St there have been 182 crashes, 37 injuries, and 2 fatalities.

• The survey collected 912 responses, between November and December of 2020
• 81% of respondents live in the City of Roanoke
• 98% of the respondents drive along Brandon Ave
• 58% of the respondents work and/or live along Brandon Ave.

• 738 People answered the following questions
• 63% of the respondents are in favor of the proposed lane configuration. (Picture below)
• An additional 14% of the respondents support some safety improvements along Brandon Avenue.

• We received responses from Roanoke City and adjacent jurisdictions
• There is overall support for safety improvements on Brandon Avenue throughout the region. (Click on a pin to see the summary of the responses by jurisdiction
• 63% of Roanoke residents approve the proposed configuration
• An additional 13% of the roanoke residents support some safety improvements along Brandon Avenue

• An additional 13% support some safety improvements along Brandon Avenue: The general sentiment for those who oppose the initiative is that the project will increase congestion and don't think giving space for bicycling is necessary. There is general support for more sidewalks and crosswalks but no bike lanes.
