CamRock County Park Mountain Biking

CamRock is a county park located between Cambridge and Rockdale, about half an hour outside of Madison. This is a staple trail system for local riders with miles of trails for all skills of riders.

Know before you go

  • Make sure you have water, your helmet and any other important riding gear
  • CamRock is a county park, so it does require a trail pass. These can be purchased online or at the trails
  • Check the weather and trail conditions. Riding muddy trails damages the trails
  • CamRock is home to a youth mountain bike team, so be mindful of big groups during practice

Parking

CamRock lot 1

Located in downtown Cambridge, this is a great spot to park if you're looking for a longer ride. There's also the skills park for a great warm up.

CamRock lot 2

Located in the middle of the park, this lot puts you right in it!

CamRock lot 3

This area is on the southside of the park towards Rockdale. Starting on top of a hill, there are several fun trails that take you down to the rest of the trail system. Make sure to save some energy for the climb back up the grass hill to the car.

Creekside trails

Easy

Consisting of a few smooth and fast trails that follow the edge of the Koshkonong Creek, these trails are a great place to get warmed up before tackling the big stuff!

Rip-N-Ride

More Difficult

Fast and flowy trail with winding swithbacks, Rip-N-Ride is one of the most popular trails at CamRock. Featuring lots of rollers and a few small tabletops, this is another great trail for all levels of riders.

Mayor's Playground

More difficult/Most difficult

Named after "The Mayor" Chuck Hutchens, these trails are a ball! There's two ways down, the black jump line or the green flow line. The flow line has fun for riders of all skill levels and the jump line has some big tabletops and drops. Head back up on Mayor's rewind if you're craving more!

Outback

Most difficult

Outback offers a variety of difficult features including wooden bridges, drops, see-saws, and rock gardens. This trail is a great introduction to the harder trails at CamRock.

Greg's Place

Expert

This trail is an extra loop on outback for those looking for a little more of a challenge. With some massive drops and skinny wooden features, this trail challenges even the most skilled riders.

Cliff's Edge

Expert

Arguably the hardest trail at Camrock, Cliff's edge is filled with rocky chutes, steep climbs, and drops. This trail isn't for the faint of heart so make sure you're ready before riding this one!

Area 51

Expert

A classic challenge, Area 51 is filled with wooden features, including 10 foot tall bridges and some big drops!

Get Involved

These awesome trails are maintained by the local IMBA chapter, who host volunteer work days throughout the years. This is a great way to give back and help expand the trail system!

Donating to the local IMBA chapter provides funding to expand the trail system and keep them in good condition!
