Introduction
The Decision Support System, or DSS, is one of the six process areas identified in the ICM capability maturity model (CMM) by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program. This process area includes the tools used to respond to events within the corridor. DSS can range from simple, with a set of written incident response plans agencies consult when needed, to mature, with automated processes based on engineering principles and lessons learned from previous efforts.
