Marilyn Crandell Schleg's Scrapbook
Introduction
Marilyn Crandell Schleg was born in Battle Creek, Michigan and graduated from Albion College in 1958 with Phi Beta Kappa honors and a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. While at Albion, Marilyn was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, French Club, and Kappa Delta, to name a few.
Beyond Albion, Marilyn continued her education, receiving a Master's Degree in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin along with a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan. From there she then worked as a medical librarian, retiring in 1992 from the Hurley Medical Center located in Flint, Mi. Afflicted with Multiple System Atrophy, Marilyn passed away in July of 2001.

Marilyn Crandell Schleg and the Albion College Archives and Special Collections
In 1998, Marilyn's love for libraries prompted her to endow an archivist position and fund an annual lectureship that highlighted various aspects of library and archival work. Marilyn stated:
(My family and I) wanted to do something for Albion because Albion did so much for me.

Throughout her time at Albion College, Marilyn collected and compiled various scraps, including things like report cards, program booklets, newspaper articles, photographs, and letters, all related to her experience as a student.
The collection of items within her scrapbook provide an interesting glimpse of what life was like for a brit in the 1950's.
