Committees
- Releasing updates to both the Transportation Plan and Funding Program, as well as the Draft Public Participation Plan, for 45-day public reviews.
- Discussing possible changes to the AMATS operating agreement and boundary area suggested by the Department of Transportation.
- Sending a letter of support to Governor Dunleavy to designate the Department of Transportation to receive Federal Transit Administration funding directly.
- Providing comments on the Seward to Glenn Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study and the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Amendment #2.
- Setting safety targets for AMATS and approving performance targets for the Alaska Railroad.
- Passing a resolution to recognize Craig Lyon for his years of service with AMATS.

The Taskforce, which includes AMATS, the Municipality of Anchorage, Anchorage Police Department, and the Mayor’s Office, is taking action by visiting crash sites, reviewing roadway designs, and analyzing incident details with APD.

Transportation Plan (MTP)
And just so we can comment on all of AMATS's core products in one newsletter, the draft Work Program narrative will also be on the committees' April agendas. The Work Program is a key document that helps coordinate transportation planning efforts over a two-year period. It provides details about planning tasks, how they will be carried out, and the funding allocated to each activity. The draft 2026-2027 Work Program will go out for public review next quarter.

Transit on the Move 2025
The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a key federal program managed by each state. In Alaska, the program is run by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). The main goal of the program is to reduce deaths and serious injuries from traffic crashes on all public roads.
