During the course of our lives, there are multiple world problems that arise and require human cooperation to fix/solve. Due to the increase in population in our world, there is a higher need for more land space. This need for land space can cause many problems in our world. One way through which we can get land space is through deforestation. Deforestation is the process of clearing a wide area of trees/vegetation for human uses. This can cause a decrease in the oxygen and harm our atmosphere. Due to that, afforestation is one of the biggest and most promoted causes in the world. Afforestation can improve the condition of our atmosphere, promote biodiversity, sequester carbon and much more. Throughout this storymap, we will learn more about afforestation and how it has changed the world so far.

The graph above denotes the afforestation sites in the United States. The green represents places that are venues of afforestation. These are the places where afforestation is practiced and actually implemented. The yellow represents places that are sites for afforestation and require some care to reach the same level as the green portions. Afforestation comes with many benefits and by continuing the practice of afforestation and continuous implementation of it can cause a better life quality for people, due to many reasons.

This map shows the whole world and in specific, certain physical characteristics of the place. The shades of green and yellow, both, denote different things and it is important to understand its meaning to uncover the full meaning of the map. All the shades of green denote trees and vegetation. The yellows show that there is vegetation/trees present in those places but the amount is lesser compared to the green/dark green areas. We can think of these places as venues where people are populated. It could be interpreted in such a manner because humans cut down trees and vegetation for multiple uses like homes, work places, etc. As we can see, most of the world is covered with dense vegetation and this shows that there are a lot of original and preserved forests. Apart from this, we can also see that there are a good amount of vegetation in most places, even if they are in populated areas. Overall, that sends a positive message about human beings and our practices and awareness' of preserving our natural surroundings.
