A guide to the Central Tech Area
Transportation
Bike routes
There are plenty of bike lanes surrounding central tech. Bike lanes include the lanes on Montrose and Grace which both stretch Bloor to Harbord (seen on both sides of Bickford Park), the Harbord bike lane stretching from Ossington to Huron, the Shaw bike lane between Davenport and Queen, and most notably the bike lane on Bloor stretching from Runnymede to Avenue Road.
TTC
- Bathurst is the closest station to central tech. It is on line 2 and is 3 stops east of Dufferin station. From Bathurst station, you can take the 511 streetcar south to the Exhibition Place, and the 7 bus north to North York. Harbord is just south of the school and has it's own bus route. The Spadina streetcar runs a few blocks east of Central tech from Spadina station on Bloor south to Queens Quay West.
Budget impact
If you normally take the TTC to school, the move won’t impact fare costs at all. If you walk to school and it takes too long to walk to central tech, to and from will cost $21.00a week for a student, and $32.50 for adults.
Parking
There is a staff parking lot east of the school on Borden St. and 22 spaces on Borden on the west side of Borden St.

Food (Red)
There are many interesting and good restaurants near Central Tech. Several restaurants are chains we have near Bloor CI. These restaurants include Tim Hortons, A&W, Jerk King, Popeyes, and Subway. My favorites near the school are Pizza Nova, Pizza Gigi, Krispy Kreme, and Pig Out. Pig out is my favorite out of all the restaurants in the area. I would recommend the boneless rib sandwich. There are no vegan or vegetarian options but if you have certain dietary restrictions there are plenty of other options in the area.
Leisure (Green)
There are several places in the area you can visit for leisure. There is central tech stadium which is the field for the school. It is also used for recreation after school hours. The Varsity Centre is U of T's Sports Centre. The courts and field are open in the summer. The skating rink is open in the winter. Also located in the area is Queens Park. Queens park is where the Legislative assembly of Ontario is located. It also includes an actual park. It is the area furthest east shaped like an oval.
Walk score
The University area has a walk score of 92. It is the 6th most walkable neighborhood in Toronto. There are so many stores and restaurants in the area, a car isn’t required to go to these places. The area also has a transit score of 100. Bloor CI has a walk score of 91. And a transit score of 95. The central tech area is more accessible.
Local History
The University of Toronto St. George Campus is also located in the neighborhood which is why it was given the name University. When Central Tech was built in 1915, it was the most expensive school building at the time.
