A Look at College Enrollment and Educational Attainment

This story map is intended to aid the Tulsa Education Task Force in achieving its goal to develop a plan for a formal structure that will leverage shared institutional resources and facilitate a seamless academic and social experience for students pursing baccalaureate degrees in the Tulsa region. To that end, below are a series of maps and charts utilizing census data that depict college enrollment and educational attainment for Tulsa County.


College Enrollment

College Enrollment by Age

The following map depicts the most representative age group enrolled in a public or private college or graduate school for each census tract for the population 15 and over. Most representative is the age group with the greatest number of students enrolled in an institution of higher learning per tract. Students aged 18 to 24 are the most representative for most census tracts in the county (63% of the tracts) followed by students aged 25 to 34 (26% of tracts), and then students aged 35 plus (11% of tracts). Students aged 15 to 17 are the least representative. There are no census tracts in Tulsa County where students aged 15 to 17 represent the highest share of college enrolled.
