Westbrook Meadows
Geography culminating
My neighborhood is in Westbrook, also known as Westbrook Medows. Westbrook Medows is just one half of Westbrook it is on the southern side. The key characteristics of Westbrook are the soccer dome located west to where I live along with the old golf course just passed the dome on creek Ferd road, there's a coinvent store east of my whereabouts, and a small church just past it. Where I live is a suburban area with a bunch of houses where families settle down.
Westbrook meadows is a place where couples come to settle down and start a family, it is kid friendly and has many slow down signs to keep kids safe. Houses are very close together making it easy to make friends with your neighbors. All the houses have nice big backyards making It possible to grow plants and fresh greens right from your home. There is a dome very close to the houses giving kids a safe place to have a creative outlet and play new sports. Westbrook is very diverse and has many bike lanes making it possible to be eco-friendly and safe. The population of my neighborhood is around 17,018 people. The majority of people are around 41 years old and 84% are married and 68% have kids.
The physical landscape of Westbrook meadows, which is mostly flat with crops and used to be many trees has influenced the neighborhood by allowing many houses to be build due to the flat land. The roads are very smooth throughout the neighborhood because the ground does not have any hills or valleys. The neighborhood is quite big because of the great deal of open land that has now been built into a safe a great place to live.
My neighborhood faces the challenges of people speeding through the safe neighborhood our community is trying to build. There are many ignorant people passing through my neighborhood with that disregard the many children playing outside in what is supposed to be a safe environment. There are too many people and not enough houses, meaning our neighborhood must expand the number of houses being built. There is a lack of transportation in my neighborhood because the city bus does not travel out to where I live leaving me the options to walk or bike which is not very time efficient.
The neighborhood I live in can become more livable by getting the city of Kingston to make more speed bumps throughout the roads to slow down people passing through. I think houses should be made more affordable so the people that don’t have anywhere to live can stay in the cheaper houses. There should be a city bus that has a route throughout Westbrook enabling people to get places easier and cheaper in my neighborhood and a plus is it is better for the environment if people take the bus.
