Using Wizards in MAVEN

This document will help you understand the purpose of Wizards, which events contain them, and where to find them.

What are Wizards?

You can think of a wizard as a type of Question Package that pulls together questions from a variety of other question packages within an event and puts them all together in one. We design Wizards for particular MAVEN users that only need to focus on specific questions chosen by MDPH Epidemiologists as part of their investigation. Wizards affords these users “one stop shopping” instead of having to navigate between several question packages to find what they need.

Which events contain Wizards?

Not all events have a Wizard, but if there is one, they can always be found beneath the Question Packages in the Event Data tab of a case. Since different Wizards are designed for different purposes, please reach out to MDPH to confirm that completing a given Wizard satisfies all of the requirements for your particular investigation.

Where do I find them?

To view a Wizard open an event scroll to the bottom of the page until you see an option for viewing Wizards. If there is no Wizard for the event you will not see the option. Click on the Wizards dropdown and select the particular Wizard you would like to view. Once selected, click “View Wizard.”

This image shows a snapshot of the question packages in MAVEN. The wizards drop-down box at the bottom of the screen is highlighted and shows an Enteric CRF Review wizard selected. The 'view wizard' button is highlighted.

After clicking “View Wizard” the Wizard will open. Each Wizard will look a bit different, but in general they are formatted like a standard question package.

Enter information into the Wizard. Once you have completed the Wizard, you would click “Save” as you would with any other case, and it will return you to the Dashboard of the case you were in. As previously mentioned please reach out to MDPH to confirm that completing a given Wizard satisfies all of the requirements for your particular investigation.
