Immigration to the U.S Southern Border.

In this story I will show you the latest information regarding new immigrants into the U.S. Reasons as to why they are coming into the US.

Immigrants have always been important to many countries, but the country I want to focus on in this story is the Southern Border of the United States. This border brings in thousands of immigrants a year and in 2022 alone we brought in "25000" (Forbes).

Some basic information pertaining to immigrants in the US is that "15 % of the population in the US are migrants"(Forbes). And in that 15% there have been "900,000 migrants that have obtained their U.S. citizenship"(Forbes). The first big question about this topic is what are the major countries that have had their population immigrate into America?

What are some push factors in those countries that are causing immigrants to leave their home countries?

Push factors for these counties involve the country itself being poor. A country that is poor cannot take care of there people causing most of the population in a certain area to be under the poverty line.

Another push factor is the scare of a war or natural disaster to happen to the certain country. A lot of the countries mentioned above, have many natural resources that a lot of other countries want. This leads to wars over these resources causing many civilian deaths/injuries. These issues are another reason as to why immigrants leave their countries because they just want to survive.

What are some pull factors in those countries causing immigrants to come over to the US?

The biggest reason for most immigrants is the US provides them with freedom as well as safety for both them and their families.

Another pull factor are new job opportunities as well as a fresh start in life.

What are some personal stories that have been shared by migrants into the US?

This video provides the story of an immigrant coming into the US. I do not understand why they are looked upon as a "them" compared to citizens of the United States. This video is short but provides a more positive look into migrants coming to the US.

Some positives are that migrants have increased the US economic budget. They have brought in numerous "innovations and are well educated about their job" (budgetmodel). Their skills are some of the best when it comes to hands on work.

The Southern Border is one of the most popular borders in the United States. It brings in thousands of migrants a year from people all over the world. The United States being one of the most well sought countries in the world, opens up many opportunities for migrants but also poses new challenges for them to face. While migrating is a very hard thing to do, it allows many from other countries to have a fresh start in life. And whatever the reason for leaving their home town, they can leave that worry behind as they are in a much safer country.
