Pedestrian Counts

Off the shelf fieldwork

Do you want to start using Survey 123 but don't feel ready to build your own form? This off the shelf fieldwork survey is for you.

This survey allows you to collect and analyse located data for pedestrian counts.

What data?

The form gives opportunities for students to record;

  • Location (as a point on a map)
  • Location name or description (e.g. Outside Marks and Spencer at the top of Pride Hill)
  • Date and time of recording
  • Count time (the duration of the traffic count - recorded in whole minutes between 1-10)
  • Count (the recorded number of pedestrians)
  • Notes
  • Pedestrian rate (the number of pedestrians per minute, this will be calculated automatically)

The fields highlighted in orange are required questions and must be filled in

Accessing the survey form

Scan the QR Code to open the Survey123 form on a phone or tablet.

You will be given the choice to open the form in the browser or to use the Survey123 field app.

If you will be using the form in the field without an internet connection (either wifi or mobile) you should use the Survey123 field app.

Viewing the survey results

You can view the data in the interactive dashboard. For the best experience we suggest  opening the dashboard in a new tab .

To view only data that you have collected use the date and time filter and zoom the map to the location of your fieldwork.

The summary statistics on the left hand side will update to reflect the points in your chosen time period and for the location you have displayed.

Download data

Once you have filtered the map by date and location you can download the data as a spreadsheet. Just click the download arrow in the bottom-left corner.

Can't see the download data button?

Add data to your own map

If you want to take control of the cartography or add other layers to the map you can add the data to a new map in ArcGIS Online.
