Road Debris Reporter

Quickly report road debris incidents with a single tap on your device with ArcGIS QuickCapture.

Road debris, a fatal hazard.

Road defects and debris are dangerous issues that can lead to serious road accidents and crashes.

A study by the  AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety  showed that road debris caused 200,000 crashes on United States roads, killing more than 500 people and injuring another 39,000, between 2011 and 2014.

Yet, accidents caused by road debris can be prevented through timely reporting and sharing of relevant information through a common operational view.

Project overview

ArcGIS QuickCapture allows motorists to capture and report road debris.

With minimum interactions with the device, anyone can send near real-time road observations through this big button-enabled reporter.

Visualize data in near real time

All reported debris incidents can be visualized with ArcGIS, helping responders to make timely decisions, coordinate remediation efforts, and ultimately improve road safety.

An example here is an app created with  ArcGIS Dashboard , displaying records submitted to a hosted feature service in near real time.

Field Data and Analysis Boosts Road Safety

With ArcGIS QuickCapture, we are more likely to deliver projects on time because we can see what’s going on in the field real-time and monitor progress. We have a detailed, technical picture of our work. (Liv Theunissen, Beca)
